Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services

Placer Title Company has joined the fundraising campaign to support the expansion of the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services. In addition to our five year financial commitment we also donated 93 monitors to their educational program.

Our success in Placer County moved us forward to continued growth and in March 1983 we opened the Sacramento County Operation which is now the largest county operation in our group. We opened our Sacramento title plant and first Sacramento escrow office on Madison and Primrose in Fair Oaks. Shortly after that we opened on Fulton Avenue in Sacramento and a Greenhaven branch in the summer of 1983. Some of the original escrow employees were Millie Freese, Elizabeth Tizzard, Paula Bussey (still with PTC) and Donna Eggink. Shortly thereafter came Phyllis Sylvia. The opening of the Fulton office provides an illustration of the daring and resourcefulness that characterizes the Sacramento operation. On the rainy opening day, tenant improvements were not complete, but Leo French led the team across the street to the luxurious alternate location he had secured above the Big M Saloon. True, it was only accessible by a rain-drenched exterior stairway affixed to the building by at least three bolts, but it was perfectly safe as long as only one person ascended at a time. It smelled a bit moldy, but that was masked by the musty tang of a hundred years of onion rings. And where else could our clients sign papers while dancing to the juke?

The original title department featured John Tyler and Andy French. A few month later Andy was replaced by Cy Airo. Shortly thereafter came Mike Benoit, Ron Henderson and Terry Fitzgerald. Jim Johnston led the Sacramento gang for a while and Bill Wirt was an integral part in getting Sacramento County up and running.

The PTC Sacramento County operation is a fierce competitor and often holds the number one spot in market share. Their fearless leaders are Valerie Baldo and Darrick Blatnick.

About Sacramento County

Peacefully located in a leafy valley of scenic rivers and canopies of trees, today's Sacramento is a cosmopolitan convergence of tall, gleaming buildings, hearty Victorians, splendid restaurants and shops, and a vibrant arts scene. Sacramento County was one of the original counties formed with California's statehood in 1850, consisting of 995 square miles. The geographic boundaries of the County of Sacramento include seven incorporated cities. Varying from quaint Isleton to cosmopolitan Sacramento, each of these cities contributes a rich and unique dimension to the Sacramento County region. Known as the City of Trees, 6 million trees create a lush, beautiful Capital City where more than 120 city parks encompass over 2000 acres. In addition to its 1.4 million residents, making Sacramento the eighth most populous county in California, Sacramento is home to the Sacramento Kings of the NBA. Sacramento County boasts a plethora of family friendly activities, performing arts, music, theatres, galleries, professional ballet and opera, hiking, biking, white water rafting, golfing, wine tasting, as well as four-star restaurants and first-class hotels.
